Cantor BioConnect is a contract research organization (CRO) that manages every phase of a clinical trial. Their biospecimen acquisition laboratory serves the diagnostic manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries worldwide. Through their clinical trials, this small-scale CRO works with hospitals, clinics and physicians around the world to collect clinical samples for research and testing.

Challenge: Cantor BioConnect needed a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS)

Cantor BioConnect conducts clinical studies on behalf of third parties. Initially, they used Microsoft OneDrive to manage their studies. However, when sponsors began asking if they had a Clinical Trial Management System, Cantor BioConnect realized it was time for an upgrade.

They needed a system that was both effective and affordable for their small startup. Naomi Baker, Director of Operations at Cantor BioConnect, shared three key requirements they felt a CTMS needed to meet: compliance, cost and collaboration.

  • Compliance: Although Microsoft OneDrive was compliant, Cantor BioConnect wanted a solution with enhanced security measures. The company works with large amounts of data, making compliance an absolute priority.
  • Cost: Cantor BioConnect is a small startup and does not have a large budget for tools such as a CTMS. They were looking for a solution that covered all requirements in a cost-effective way.
  • Collaboration: The team at Cantor BioConnect has full schedules, so they sought software that provided support. A collaborative approach was essential so that the tool could be tailored exactly to their needs.

It didn’t take long for Cantor BioConnect to find a solution that met all their needs: ResearchManager.

Solution: a safe, reliable and cost-effective CTMS

Cantor BioConnect discovered ResearchManager, a Clinical Research Suite that provided reliable support for clinical trial management.

Compliance

The top priority for Cantor BioConnect was to manage their clinical research data securely, reliably and compliantly. ResearchManager is:

  • GCP compliant
  • HIPAA-compliant
  • GDPR-compliant
  • ISO 27001-certified
  • NEN 7510 certified
  • ISO 14155 compliant
  • 21 CFR Part 11 compliant

Clearly, Cantor BioConnect’s data is in good hands.

Cost-effective

Cantor BioConnect uses two tools from ResearchManager: the CTMS and the eTMF. The purchase of these tools is significantly more affordable than competing alternatives.

Despite the affordable price, Baker indicated that the ResearchManager team still provided a premium experience.

“I think ResearchManager is one of the few companies that really takes the time to understand what customers want,” Baker said.

Collaboration

During the implementation phase, the ResearchManager team analyzed the daily operations and needs of each department within Cantor BioConnect. Based on this in-depth understanding, a platform was set up that perfectly matched their way of working.

During the onboarding process, Cantor BioConnect and ResearchManager held monthly meetings to monitor progress, gather feedback and make adjustments as needed. Within six months, Baker described their CTMS as, “exactly what we needed.”

Result: More authority that helps close more deals

Since the implementation of ResearchManager, Cantor BioConnect has been able to use the CTMS as a selling point to sponsors. A strong CTMS is an important signal of reliability for a contract research organization, so ResearchManager helped strengthen Cantor BioConnect’s position and authority within the industry.

Cantor BioConnect has now been using ResearchManager’s tools for a year, and both parties look forward to continuing the collaboration. When Baker was asked what she would say to a company considering partnering with ResearchManager, she was clear:

“I would definitely recommend them to try it. ResearchManager is one of the few companies that really takes the time to understand what customers want. They build the implementation from the ground up to fit exactly what we need.”
